Hanuman is one of the most revered and powerful figures in Hindu mythology. He is a divine monkey god known for his strength, courage, loyalty, and devotion —especially to Lord Rama, the hero of the Hindu epic Ramayana.

Identity and Origin

Hanuman is the son of the wind god (Vayu) and Anjana, a celestial being who was cursed to live on earth as a monkey.
Because of his divine parentage, Hanuman possesses extraordinary powers — including immense strength, the ability to fly, and the gift of changing size at will.

Role in the Ramayana
Hanuman is one of the central characters in the Ramayana, where he serves as the devoted follower of Lord Rama.

His most famous feats include:
Leaping across the ocean to Lanka to find Sita (Rama’s wife) who had been kidnapped by the demon king Ravana. Carrying a mountain (the Sanjeevani Hill) to bring healing herbs to save Rama’s brother Lakshmana during battle.Burning part of Lanka with his fiery tail after being captured by Ravana’s soldiers.
