Janger Dancer
A Janger Dancer is a performer in the traditional Balinese dance called Janger, a lively and cheerful social dance that originated in Bali, Indonesia. It is unique among Balinese dances because it features both male and female dancers performing together in a playful and harmonious setting.

The word “Janger” refers to the chorus of female dancers who sing traditional songs while gracefully moving in unison. Meanwhile, the male dancers, known as Kecak men or prabhu, sometimes perform complementary movements and songs, interacting with the female dancers throughout the performance.

Janger Dance typically tells stories of love, youth, and everyday life, often involving humorous exchanges and lighthearted themes. It is accompanied by a Gamelan Janger, a special ensemble of bamboo and percussion instruments.

This dance is popular during festivals, temple ceremonies, and cultural performances as a symbol of joy, friendship, and social harmony.
