Ganesha is one of the most revered and widely worshipped deities in Hinduism, known as the remover of obstacles, the god of wisdom, knowledge, and new beginnings. He is easily recognized by his distinctive appearance — a human body with the head of an elephant.
In Hindu mythology, Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. His elephant head symbolizes wisdom, strength, and a sharp mind, while his large ears represent the ability to listen attentively. Ganesha’s broken tusk, which he holds in one of his hands, signifies sacrifice and perseverance.
Ganesha is often depicted holding various symbolic objects, such as:
A noose (to capture difficulties)
A goad (to prod people on the path of righteousness)
A bowl of sweets (modak) symbolizing spiritual rewards
A broken tusk, representing resilience and sacrifice
He is traditionally invoked at the start of new ventures, ceremonies, and important undertakings to ensure success and remove obstacles. In Bali, Ganesha statues are commonly placed at temple entrances, homes, and public spaces, serving as spiritual guardians and symbols of protection.
