Barong
Barong is a mythological creature in Balinese culture, believed to be the king of the spirits and the leader of the forces of good. Often depicted as a lion-like figure, Barong represents protection, virtue, and prosperity.

In Balinese tradition, Barong plays a central role in ceremonial dance dramas, where he battles against Rangda, the demon queen who symbolizes evil and chaos. These performances are not only forms of entertainment but also sacred rituals to maintain the spiritual balance between good and evil within the community.

The Barong mask and costume are considered sacred objects, created and blessed through special rituals. The Barong dance is typically accompanied by gamelan music and is performed during religious ceremonies, temple festivals, and cultural shows throughout Bali.

For the Balinese, Barong is not just a mythical creature, but a spiritual protector who guards villages, homes, and individuals from misfortune and malevolent spirits.
